Just like the Forenza, the mid-size Verona is also a re-badged Daewoo, sold in the US by Suzuki. This car has been available in Korea for almost 3 years. I had the pleasure to see in person. And I thought right away it was right for the American market. I am glad it finally makes it here.

The design is also Italian. And the interior is very well finished, and uses much less wood trim than other Korean mid-size cars. At 188 inches long, it is about the size of a Camry or Accord. The only engine for us is a 2.5 Liter inline 6 cyl. Good for 155 hp. That isn't much. But consider the price of the car: between $16 000 and $19 000. This compares to the competition's 4 cyl. engines.

And they can't match Suzuki's warranty either. This car should be on the list of anyone shopping for a mid sized family car.

Again, see for yourselves. Here is the Daewoo model, with the weird chromy Daewoo front end.

And here is the Canada only Chevrolet Epica. With a 3rd front end design. That means, they will compete with their own Malibu. The funny thing is, the Daewoo seems to me like a better car, and a better deal, than the new Malibu...

That's right. The US will finally get the Audi A3. The all new redesigned model is based on the next generation VW Golf. A better and slightly larger platform that will be stretched for use in the next VW Passat.

The A3 will be available as a 2 or 4 door right from the start. The 1st generation was a 2 door only for years.

It definitely doesn't look like one of these cool, interesting European designs like the Mini Cooper or the new Renaults. It barely looks more modern than the previous generation introduced in 1996! A very boring and conservative design indeed. And a big disappointment for those who expected something daring, like the Steppenwolf show car from a couple of years ago.

If it doesn't look modern now, imagine what it will be like in 3 or 4 years...

The interior seems a little more modern. As usual for Audi, it is a mixed bag of every other design they have done before, and nothing really new. But also as usual, it seems of very high quality. Especially the door panels. But the console and general shape of the dashboard still looks like something from the early 80's. Round vents are the only "almost modern" touch.

Engines in the US should include the usual 1.8 Liter turbo with about 170hp, and tons of Turbo lag. And maybe the 3.2 Liter V6, good for 240 hp in Europe. There is also a new 2 Liter engine with 150hp that might make it over here.

Most Americans have never seen the old A3 anyway. So here it is. It still looks pretty nice if you ask me. And it is an 8 year old design. It makes the all new one even less of an achievement.

There it is. The all new 5 series. Well.... It does look a bit better than the clumsy 7 series. BMW claims the 7 design is very modern and ahead of its time. I think it's just clumsy , very heavy handed and actually, quite old fashion. But these similar lines seem to work better on a smaller scale.

The line from the truck is till weird in the cack. And the lack of any protection on the doors is a pretty bad habit these days...

The interior seems to be a mixed bag as well. The dashboard goes back to using black plastic. And the "double hump" from the 7 is here too. It just looks very heavy, and again clumsy. Controls seem scattered all over the place, even with the optional iDrive system. And the whole thing looks pretty cheap.

The rest of the interior looks modern and luxurious. The 5 series seats have always been some of the best looking in the business, and these are even better. And the door trim almost looks futuristic.

The engine choice for the US will be similar to the current models, 2.5 inline 6 with 184hp, 3.0 inline 6 with 225 hp and the 4.4 V8 with 325hp. All transmitions, manual and automatic, are 6 speed. And of course, it will be even more expensive, blah, blah, blah..

The word is that Honda wants to sell a smaller car than the Civic in the U.S and Canada. This is where the all new City comes in.

The previous generations sold in Japan and Europe for years never made it in North America, but his is about to change.

he interior is slightly more interesting than the extremely boring exterior design. With option packages, it can also be quite luxurious.

They will try to compete with the Toyota Echo, with a starting price very close to $10 000.

The only engine available in the U.S will be a 1.4 Liter. If consumer clinics are favorable, look for the car at the end of 2003, or early in 2004.

These exclusive shots reveal the look of the next generation Acura RL, sold as the Honda Legend in Japan.

The new model will not be sold in Europe anymore. The Accord will be their largest car offered there.

Most of the rumors about this car were wrong. Honda will not offer a V8, but a larger 3.8 V6 with "V8 Power" of almost 300hp.

It will also, NOT be a rear wheel drive car. They will stick to front wheel drive. It will not be marketed as a sports car, but a true luxury automobile. They claim the V6 will be so smooth and quiet, nobody will tell the difference with an 8.

It will also be slightly more expensive, starting in the low $40 000.

In 2003, Honda will try to answer to the PT Cruiser by introducing to the American market, this new compact based on the CRV platform. (Just like the Element).

It will probably use the same 2.4l engine with 160hp.

As you can see, the new Honda has 3 raws of seats, with a very small space left over for the trunk. But the 3rd raw folds flat into the floor, like in other Honda models

The interior looks closer to the Civic Si, than the sedan. That's because, like the Si, it was targeted to the European market first. The Si sold in the US comes from England.

It is an amazing feast to squeeze 7 passengers in a car barely longer than a Civic sedan. But it might quickly become a gutless wonder with only 160 hp from a 4 cylinder engine, trying to take all these people up a long hill...

Let's hope for a more powerful engine for the U.S market.
